Early Life

Allen Ezail Iverson was born in Hampton, Virginia. He attended Bethel High School. He developed an interest in sports and played for the school football and basketball team.

He later attended Richard Milburn High School and after his senior year of high school was offered scholarship by Georgetown University where he played for Georgetown Hoyas Basketball Team.

Iverson married his long-time girlfriend Tawanna Turner in 2001, and they have five children. Following two years of successful career in basketball in Georgetown University under the guidance of coach John Thompson, Iverson was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1996 NBA draft.

After ten years with Philadelphia 76ers, Iverson joined Denver Nuggets in 2006, when he was the NBA’s number two leading scorer. Again in 2008, Iverson was dealt from the Nuggets to the Detroit Pistons.
