Arnold Schwarzenegger, popularly known as The Austrian Oak, is worth $300 million today. The 70-year-old Austrian- American actor, producer, businessman, investor, author, philanthropist, activist, politician and former professional bodybuilder has had a very successful career and remains to be one of the most prominent people in the world.

Early Life

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Styria, Austria. When he grew up, he played various sports, and when he was 14, he chose bodybuilding as his career. He regularly trained and visited gym frequently.

Arnold served in the Austrian Army for a year where he won Junior Mr Europe Contest. He became Mr Universe when he was just 20 years old after which he moved to the U.S. He married Maria Shriver in 1986, and the couple filed for divorce which was finalised in 2017.


Body Building

For many years, Arnold wrote articles for magazines Muscle & Fitness and Flex. Later, he became the executive editor of both the magazines and the deal gave him $1 million annually. Other than bodybuilding, he also participated in several powerlifting/weightlifting contests. After his victory as Mr Universe and Mr Olympia, Arnold became a prominent face worldwide.

Arnold, who was abused by his father when he was young, had always dreamed of becoming famous. He explored his opportunities in acting. Although initially, he struggled to develop in the acting career, he soon starred in numerous films after his breakthrough film Conan the Barbarian in 1982.

His movies were mostly of the action genre, and Arnold brought in some humour making the movies gross billions at the box office. He is well known for his appearance in The Terminator series and The Expendables Series. His other noteworthy films include True Lies, Eraser, End of Days, The Last Stand, Maggie and Killing Gunther.


Arnold was a registered Republican for many years. Arnold served for two terms as the Governor of California from 2003-2011.

His first political appointment was in 1990 when he got appointed as the Chairman of President Council on Physical fitness and sports. He was also selected as the Red Cross Ambassador for the years 1993 and 1994.

Because of his wealth, he even refused to accept the Governor’s salary of $175,000 per year.


Arnold is a very successful businessman. He became a millionaire through real estate investments when he was just 30, well before his career in Hollywood.

In 1968, he co-founded bricklaying business, the profits of which he used in starting a mail order business where he sold bodybuilding and fitness related equipments.

In 1992, he opened a restaurant in Santa Monica and sold it in 1998.

He was the founding celebrity investor in Planet Hollywood, a chain of international themed restaurants, and sold his stock in 2000. He also invested in a shopping mall in Columbus, Ohio.

Arnold has significant ownership in Dimensional Fund Advisors, an investment firm. He is also the owner of Arnold Sports Festival, which is held annually in Columbus since 1989.

He owns Oak Productions Inc., a movie production company and co-owns Fitness Publications.

Arnold purchased a 14,500 sq ft mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California for $11.9 million in 2002 and currently, he resides there.

Arnold is a big car enthusiast and owns a fleet of cars. His collection includes Dodge Challenger SRT, Porsche 911 Turbo, Hummer H1, Ex-Military Dodge M37, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, M47 Patton Tank, Bentley Continental, GTC and  Unimog

Arnold supports numerous charity and environmental causes. He is involved with the Special Olympics for many years, and in 2017 he became the official spokesperson of Special Olympics.

In 1995, he founded Inner City Game Foundation which provides cultural, educational and community enrichment programming in youth. The foundation serves over 250,000 children in over 400 schools country-wide.

In 2004, he saved a man’s life while on vacation by swimming into the sea and rescued him from drowning.

He donated $100,000 to Jewish Human Rights Charity.
