Aladdin is a poor guy who steals food and money. He meets Princess Jasmine and falls in love with her at first sight. But what chance does a poor commoner have with the Princess? His luck changes when Jafar approaches him to retrieve a magical lamp from a cave called ‘The cave of wonders’.

When a young man named Captain John Smith and his men arrive at a village, he falls in love with Pocahontas. Will they be together or will the chief disapprove and send him away?

This Disney movie is a personal favourite, and I recommend you to watch it if you already haven’t.

4.    Mulan (1998)

Mulan is a young maiden whose father is lame but has to go to war according to the tradition that one male from every house is to give his name. To save her father, she takes on the role of a man as she cuts off her hair and wears the armour. No one knows she is a woman except a dragon who is sent by her ancestors to protect her.

Mulan was a Disney movie that empowered women portraying that there is nothing a man can do that a woman cannot including going to a war.

5.    Cars (2006)

Lightning McQueen, the best racing car accidentally ends up in a town called Radiator Springs. He creates a mess and damages the town’s road for which he is punished and is to fix what he has destroyed before he can get back on track to his Championship. At first, he hates the town and tries to finish his task as quickly as possible but as time passes he grows attached to the place learning all about family and friends.

6.    The Princess and the frog (2009)

This movie is Disney’s take on the perfect fairytale but with a little twist, one of the ideal Disney movies.

Tiana is a waitress and meets Prince Naveen who has been changed into a frog by a magician. Under the assumption that a kiss is all he needs, he approaches Tiana but when she kisses him things go the opposite ways turning her into a frog too.

Loved the story Rapunzel? Tangled is a take on the same but with a little bit of magic and no Prince Charming.

Rapunzel lives in a tower with no one but her friend who is a chameleon. Ever since she was little, exactly on the day of her birthday a thousand lanterns would be let out in the sky, and her only wish was to see it up close. After her mother strictly forbids her from doing so, a thief stumbles upon her tower, and she asks him to take her to the place where she has always dreamed of going.

Elsa and Anna are the princesses of the Kingdom of Arendelle. In an incident when they are younger, Anna is hurt and her memories of Elsa having magical powers are taken away. As they grow up, the two sisters grow apart. The King and Queen die in a tragic shipwreck an Elsa is to take the crown. On the day of Coronation, Elsa’s power is brought to light as she freezes Arendelle and brings about permanent winter and runs away to the mountains. It is Anna’s job to bring back her sister and end winter.

9.     Big Hero 6 (2014)

Big Hero 6 is one of the most excellent Disney movies. It is the story of a boy called Hiro and a healthcare robot Baymax which is inflatable created by his brother Tadashi, who dies in a tragic fire at a science fair. Hiro is depressed and sad at the death of his brother but gathers his team of Tadashi’s nerdy friends and Baymax when evil rises in the city.

Watch this Disney movie and be filled with Awe as you watch Baymax, a sensitive robot do things like hug and console a person in distress.


10.  Zootopia (2016)

Zootopia encourages the concept of ‘Anyone can be anything.’ Zootopia is one of the best Disney movies to date and probably one of my favourites.

Judy Hopps is the first rabbit to become a police officer. While she is looked down upon by other mammals at the station, it does not stop her from giving her best. She befriends a fox and solves the biggest case that no other officer can.
