The first on my list is the movie that is based on a true story during WWII about a group of Prisoners-of-War who are put into rooms which are very hard to escape. The leader and his crew find ways and paths to survive the place with the other jailers.

Based on the World War II, Grave of the Fireflies is a heartbreaking story of a boy and his baby sister trying to survive during air raids in Japan as they are separated from their parents.

One of the best and my favourite WWII movies ever.

4.    Schindler’s list (1993)

Based on the real-life story of Schindler (Liam Neeson) who eventually hired Jew workers to save spending money on expensive labour became the saviour of hundreds of Jewish lives. This WWII movie’s story takes place during WWII in Poland at the time of the Holocaust where millions of Jews were killed, but many survived, thanks to Schindler and his list.

5.    Life is Beautiful (1997)

A WWII movie that will leave you in tears. A Jew librarian (Roberto Benigni) falls in love and marries an Italian girl and is happily living with his family until he and his son become victims of the Holocaust and the father does everything in his power to keep his son safe.

6.    Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Their third brother has also died previously in New Guinea, but a fourth brother James Ryan (Matt Damon) still lives as he has been captured by the enemy. To prevent the mother from suffering the loss of all her three children, the US Army sends a team to retrieve James Ryan and bring him home safely.

7.    The Pianist (2002)

Lastly on my list of best World War 2 movies is 2017 blockbuster ‘Dunkirk.’

The British soldiers were trapped and surrounded by the German Army in 1940 during the Battle of France in WWII with no means to escape. This story is not about victory over enemies but the Evacuation and survival of millions of soldiers from the harbour of Dunkirk.
