CC Trax – as the name says is a portal to find Creative Commons Licensed music. You can use the tracks for listening, improvising or building on them, using them for background music in your YouTube videos. However, you should make a note of the licenses that you can use for using the soundtracks. CCTrax provides you with the information on CC Licenses and their usage.
You can also find more information about the licenses accepted for YouTube, Vimeo, etc. If you are looking to find the latest, trending, or commercial music in here, you are looking at the wrong place. For that, you will have to go for a paid subscription service such as Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc.
However, let’s see the CCTrax review in this post. We will rate it on the parameters of:
• Website Experience
• Music Library
• Music Player & Quality
You may also like to check out some other legal places to download free music such as Jamendo, PureVolume, NoiseTrade, Free Music Archive, etc.
Website Experience
Well, the site looks okay. It’s moderately fast and easy to navigate through. When you open the homepage, you can browse through various categories of Music such as Recent, Electronic, Dub, Techno, Video, etc.

You can find some audio and video songs featured on the homepage itself. Besides, you get a sorting & filter options discussed in Library.
Compatibility & Ads
Another good thing about CCTrax is that they don’t showcase any advertisements. All the pages are entirely ad-free! However, you can only access the content from the website. There are no Android and iOS Apps.

Now, for the okay website look & feel, easy navigation, no ads or apps, I’d give it a 6/10.
Music Library
You can find hundreds and thousands of songs to download for any usage. The songs list can be accessed by searching on the basis of –
• License Type – RF, BY, BY-NC, BY-ND, BY-SA, etc.
• Genre – Ambient, Techno, Rock, etc.
• Tag – Abstract, Acoustic, Deep House, Experimental, etc.
• Label – 45 RPM Records, blocSonic, etc.
• Artist – Adam Balusik, 4t Thieves, Pascal Vert, etc.
You can find many CC licensed videos as well. Some of the featured video songs on the portal are I don’t need you – Freedonia, Ton Zinc – Independent, Pinegrove – Cadmium, Lorenzo’s Music – Downtown, etc.
For the library and range of Music, I’ll give it a 6/10 too.
Music Quality
The artists are supposed to upload the songs at a bitrate of 320 kbps. Therefore, you can find the mp3 songs to download at the same rate.
There is an option to download the full album as well as individual songs. In some cases, you may be able to find songs to download in both mp3 and FLAC.
Another place to find CCTrax songs is the Internet Archive or archive.org.
For the quality of music, I’d not give it more than 7/10 as it is better than some other streaming websites that offer as low as 64 and 128 kbps CBR.
