Keith Cozart, popularly known by his stage name Chief Keef, Who began his career in music at a very young age is worth $1 million. The rapper who rose to fame among his community high school students, soon went on to release three albums and numerous mix-tapes. However, with a deficiency in the quality of music Keef recently stated that he is retiring from rapping although he continues to feature in music videos.

Early Life

Keith Farrelle Cozart was born in Chicago, Illinois, U.S and he lived in Parkway Garden Homes, Washington Park. He developed an interest in rapping at a very young age of five and used his mother’s karaoke machine and tapes to record his music.

He attended Dulles Elementary School and Banner School. Keef dropped out of Dyett High School when he was 15.

Keef is 22 years old now and has four children. He is not married. He had his first child when he was just 16. In 2013, Keef had fathered a ten-month-old daughter to whom he began to pay child support.

In 2014, Keef announced the birth of his third child and in 2015, he was sued by another woman, claiming Keef is the father of the child.

Career

The Beginning

In 2011, Keef became famous in Chicago’s South Side Community with his mixtape, The Glory Road and Bang. He also began to post numerous music videos on Youtube, which became famous especially among the high school students. His second mixtape Bang and Back from the Dead gained him more fame.

In 2012, Keef received offers from numerous labels to sign him, including CTE World. However, in 2013, he signed a $6 million deal with Interscope Records over a three album layout, in addition to $440,000 to establish Glory Boyz Entertainment, his label imprint.

The label GBE was dissolved within a year, and Keef started a new record label Glo Gang.

The Journey

His debut album Finally Rich was released in 2012 and featured rappers 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Lil Reese.

The album had several successful hits including I Don’t Like, Hate Bein’ Sober and Love Sosa. It also peaked at #29 on Billboard 200 and #2 on Billboard Rap Chart.  In 2014, Interscope Records dropped Keef.

He later released two other albums Bang 3 Part 1 and Bang 3 Part 2. His mixtapes became more popular among his audiences than music albums.

Keef has released about 14 mixtapes which include Almighty Sosa, Bang 3, Back From the Dead, Back from the dead 2 and Sorry 4 the Weight.

The Retirement

In 2006, Keef retired from rapping as his record output was slowing down. However, he continues to appear in the music videos, and also he released his mixtape Two Zero One Seven in 2017.

Keef was also featured in over 29 music videos including Hold My Liquor, Fuck It Up, Wher I Started, Nigga Wat, Gucci Gang and Nightcrawler.

The rapper, who began his career in 15, is currently worth $1 million.

He currently resides in Woodland Hills, California in his mansion. The mansion includes a swimming pool in the backyard.

Chief Keep turned 21 last year and got his California state drivers license. He owns a Ferrari California.

Keef has signed endorsement deals with Beats By Dre, Been Trill, GloGang and Million Dollar Game Club.

Controversies

Chief Keef has been subject to numerous controversies. During his teen years, he was under house arrest for possessing an unlawful weapon.

In 2012, he uploaded an obscene photograph featuring the rapper receiving fellatio from a female fan on to Instagram. He shortly removed the image from his account.

Keef was apprehended on charges of heroin distribution in 2011.

He got arrested on different occasions for smoking marijuana.

He was even evicted from his Highland Park home in 2014 for not paying the rent, after which he purchased a house in Woodland Hills.

Although Keef kicked off his career with too many hit singles, his music career soon faced a drop-off, and we hope his retirement is just a small break for his major comeback.
