Chip and Joanna Gaines who are widely known for appearing as hosts of HGTV’s hit series “Fixer Upper”, are together worth $18 million. Apart from being the hosts in the reality show, the couple has a series of business ventures which rakes them in millions.

Early Life

Chip was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Joanna was born in Kansas and raised in Texas.  Chip and Joanna graduated from Baylor University.

Chip and Joanna got married in 2003, and they have four kids and are expecting a fifth kid.

Career

Beginning

Chip initially partnered with his parents to buy his first flip property while he was still in college. Soon he started buying and selling commercial properties. Joanna first met Chip in college.

She was intrigued when she saw Chip renting and flipping properties to college students and eventually joined him.

After the couple got married, they came across a fixer-upper building, and they worked together on the project. Eventually, Chip and Joanna opened a vintage décor shop, “Magnolia Homes”.

They initially started it as a local boutique to implement the Magnolia style in homes and later branched out and started renovations in the central Texas area.

Fixer Upper and other TV shows

While their business picked up, the couple got a call from a production company, and in 2013, the couple released the pilot episode of Fixer Upper. The show gained worldwide popularity.

However, in 2017, Chip and Joanna announced that they were leaving the show and didn’t plan to return as they wanted to focus on raising their children.

The couple has also guest appeared on several other TV shows including Entertainment Tonight, Celebrity Page, Today, Extra, Harry, The Insider, The Chew, CBS News Sunday Morning and HGTV Insider.

Joanna has been nominated for Critics Choice Award for the category Best Reality Show Host category and Women’s Image Network Awards for the Outstanding Actress Reality Series category.

Chip Gaines also was nominated for Critics Choice Award for the category Best Reality Show Host category in 2018.

Business Ventures

Apart from Magnolia Homes, the couple also owns a home décor store Magnolia Market, Magnolia Bakery, Magnolia Realty, a real estate and a construction company and Magnolia Villas, a residential subdivision. They own Magnolia House, an exclusive vacation rental, where a nigh costs as much as $695 and more.

They also own a line of premier interior paints. The couple also publishes a quarterly journal Magnolia Journal, which has over 700,000 subscribers. They are all set to open a restaurant, Magnolia Table in 2018.

Books

The couple has authored few books including Magnolia Table: A collection of recipes from Joanna, The Magnolia Story: Joanna and Chip on their lives together and Capital Gaines: Chip looks back on his business career.

Chip and Joanna Gaines Net Worth

Chip and Joanna Gaines has a net worth of $ 9 million each. The couple earned around $30,000 per episode of “Fixer Upper” plus an undisclosed fee from HGTV. They also have a series of businesses which is raking profits.

Property

The couple owns a 40-acre farmhouse in Waco, Texas, which features casual farmhouse style with lots of repurposed vintage pieces. The Gaines’ farm includes 60 animals such as chickens, cows, goats and horses.

The house is a 4,831 sq. ft. home and was built in 1903. It has been renovated by the couple and has large living and dining rooms with French doors, spacious country kitchen with ample counter space, a wood-panelled study, porches, fireplace and a huge area for guests.

Philanthropy

Chip and Joanna Gaines are the founders of the Magnolia Foundation, an organisation which seeks to provide restoration to the most vulnerable children and families, focusing on orphan care, youth development, family housing and community restoration.

The Gaines couple is also people of heart. In 2017, when Category 4 storm Harvey ripped through Texas, uprooting families from their homes and causing more destruction, they designed a “Texas Forever” T-Shirt and donated 100% profits toward the homes and lives that had been wrecked.

Chip Gaines also shaved his head to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Conclusion

The Gaines couple is America’s favourite reality show hosts, and it has left many distressed after the couple announced that they would not be returning to the fifth episode of the series “Fixer Upper”.

Even before Chip and Joanna Gaines became television personalities, they were successful entrepreneurs and were widely popular in their locality.  Two people who share similar interests have been developing their career in various ways over the years.

Though they are not coming back to the TV show, they still intend to carry on their other business ventures. With a new restaurant that’s yet to be opened, we can assume that the couple still has plans to expand more and we wish them the best.
