Colin Kaepernick, the American football quarterback who is currently a free agent, is worth $2 million as of 2018. The 30-year-old player became a nation-wide sensation after refusing to stand up for the U.S national anthem in the way of protest. He earned his significant income from NFL salary and other endorsement deals.

Early Life

Colin Rand Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His birth mother was just 19 years old when Kaepernick was born, and she placed him for adoption.

Rick and Teresa Kaepernick adopted him, and he lived in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Kaepernick attended John H. Pitman High School in Turlock, California, where he played football, baseball and basketball and got nominated for All-State selection in all three sports.

After his graduation, Kaepernick signed with XAM Sports and Entertainment. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia to train himself for the NFL Scouting Combine. In 2011, Kaepernick was selected by San Francisco 49ers in the second round of 2011 NFL Draft. He opted out of the deal over a year ago, and he’s only taken one of the official visits with any of the NFL’s 32 teams.

Colin Kaepernick became the only player in NCAA Division I FBS history to amass 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in a career. Currently, most of the team owners are scared to sign Kaepernick, afraid of the fan backlash.

The National Anthem Controversy

In the preseason game of 2016, Kaepernick was noticed sitting down during the playing of the U.S National Anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” to show his protest against a country that oppresses black people and people of colour. He explained that it meant more than football. While many military veterans voiced support for Kaepernick, he was also voted the most disliked player in the NFL in 2016.
