  • Eat a Pitta balancing diet. Do not skip meals especially when you feel hungry & avoid over-eating especially in evenings
  • Drink only cool water. It means drinking naturally cold water, not refrigerated or iced water. For naturally cold water store your water in an earthen pot or a copper vessel
  • Pitta is hot in quality so, to lower aggravated pitta avoid too much exposure to sun & heat or heaters, sauna bath, steam rooms
  • Protect your skin and head when going in the hot sun
  • Try to stay in a cool natural environment. Spend some time or take a walk in cooling breezes, by cold water, moonlight, gardens, flowers, & lakes
  • Before shower, massage your body with cooling oils such as coconut oil, sunflower oil, and ghee. Massage your head with Brahmi oil or bhringaraja oil
  • Cultivate a peaceful environment at your home & workplace. For that, you can use incense of fragrances such as sandalwood, rose, lotus, jasmine, vetivert, honeysuckle, iris to calm your intense & violent emotions
  • Wearing cooling colors like white, blue, green, purple is best. Avoid solid & bright colors like red & black
  • Pitta persons tend to be overly ambitious & hence, always stay angry, frustrated, & stressful. So, take time to slow down a bit, listen to your body, avoid competitive environment & deadlines
  • Talk sweetly to everyone, be content with yourself, enjoy some leisure time, and practice forgiveness

Which Ayurvedic herbs balance pitta?

Taking Ayurvedic herbs regularly controls aggravated pitta. For this, cooling, calming, moderately cleansing, and nurturing herbs are recommended.

Drink pomegranate juice & aloe vera juice every morning. It balances pitta and cleanses blood & liver. Include spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, fennel, and mint in your diet & drinks for digestion.

If you feel too much acidity, then to eliminate excess bile, you may take laxatives like castor oil, psyllium, Triphala, aloe, senna, rhubarb. Often mild laxatives like milk & ghee are enough.

Take cooling and calming tonic herbal powders of wild asparagus, Indian gooseberry, licorice, Tinospora, Gotu kola, sandalwood, lotus seeds, & aloe gel.

Which yoga poses are good for pitta?

For pitta body type, moderate exercises & yoga are advised. Heavy exercises increase pitta in the body. Practicing pitta pacifying yoga poses relaxes the body instead of exhaustion.

Following cooling, calming, & gentle yoga asanas should be practiced moderately with moderate rest in between:
