Popcornflix Review – A Free Movies & TV Shows Streaming Service

Popcornflix review

Popcornflix is a free movie and TV show streaming website and application. If you are a movie buff, then it is impossible to ignore its presence. You can stream hundreds of web series, TV shows, and free movies online. I will try to provide you with an honest review of Popcornflix from various angles.

Be it the quality of movies, collection, website and application experience, video player options or ad placement, Popcornflix is different than its counterparts in many ways. Also, every video is legal to stream.

Genres of movies and browsing experience

You will appreciate the subtle interface as the main menu is hidden behind the hamburger menu on the left side of the screen, thereby maximizing your view of various films and their categories. Here you can browse movies based on genres such as Action, Drama, Horror, Comedy, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Staff Picks, Recommended Movies, Mystery, Romance, Foreign Films, Documentaries, and much more.

Also, there is a search bar on top right of the screen for quickly finding your movie of choice. The whole page took less amount of time to load and as you scroll down more options will load. The collection of films is tremendous. You can find movies like Flash Point, Terminator 2, Shutter Island, The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, The Silence, etc.

The best part is that you do not have to sign up or log in to watch any film or TV shows.

Video player options

You will not find any fancy stuff when it comes to video player options on Popcornflix. Even some of the essential features are absent such as closed caption, options to change resolution, the shortcut button to skip a few seconds backward and forward, etc.

There are a handful of video player options like volume rocker, full-screen mode, favorite icon (only works if you have login details), options to shuffle movies if they are in the queue. It is such a shame as similar websites such as Crackle, Viewster, TubiTV, Yidio, etc. have a better video player.

Video quality

The video quality of movies and TV shows is close to DVD quality. Some of the videos do not have even stream in DVD quality. Films are watchable, but you will not get HD or full HD experience. Also, you do not have any option in its video player to change the resolution of the running video.

I guess, the resolution depends on the internet speed and it is auto selectable.

Video buffering experience

This is one area where I cannot compromise, and I am sure the majority of people will agree with me. I did not face any issue while playing movies on Popcornflix. As soon as you click the video, it will start streaming.

Although, I do believe that buffering depends mostly on your internet speed. But still, video hosting websites does play a significant role. I recommend user to have at least 1Mbps internet connection for an uninterrupted movie streaming.

Popcornflix application

Popcornflix has a free movie app for a range of devices such as Android, iOS, Roku, Xbox, Amazon Kindle, Smart TVs, etc. I have checked its application on iPhone, and it has similar ease of operation as it is on Popcornflix website.

Even here also, you do not have to log in to watch movies or any video. There is an option to put videos in the queue, but for this, you need to sign up. Its website is mobile responsive, but the app will enrich your streaming experience in a more significant way.

There is a separate app for kids which is known as Popcornflix Kids.

Its other websites

How many of you know that Popcornflix has three more websites which are serving free online movies in genres like horror, kids, and comedy.

This is the most significant differentiator of Popcornflix since kids would love to on a website has only kid’s movies or videos. The same logic goes for people who like horror or comedy films.
