Usually, bottled water is fluoride free unless mentioned on the label. However, many bottled drinks of water are filled from public water supplies and therefore, they may contain fluoride.
Fluoride mouthwash is a mouth rinse that contains fluoride, specifically sodium fluoride, as its chief ingredient. Fluorides help to fortify the harmful effects of incipient caries and help to repair the tooth decay at an early age.
Fluorosis, also termed as mottled enamel, is the cosmetic damage that occurs in the tooth due to ingestion of excessive fluoride during the enamel formation. It is seen as intrinsic discoloration of the tooth that also causes physical damage to the teeth to some extent.
Go for fluoride free toothpaste. Even if you are not allergic to fluoride, the systemic risks are way too high than tooth decay. Fluoride in small quantity in controlled units prevents tooth decay, but the same when ingested massively can cause systemic toxicity.
Fluoride is a non-metal mineral found naturally in some foods, and water. It has a high affinity for calcium, which means that it reacts well with calcium. This explains why it positively affects our teeth and bones, which contain calcium in large amounts.
