It is raining music and songs all over the internet. We gone past of an era where we relied on music CDs and DVDs. Nowadays, people favour online music streaming apps and websites for listening songs. The most popular ones are Saavn, Gaana, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Spotify, Hungama, etc. Wynk music joined the bandwagon in 2014 when Bharti Airtel launched it. But the million-dollar question remains- Why someone will use Wynk Music services if there are other players in the market and that too free of cost?

Let’s provide you with a detailed Wynk Music review from varied perspectives such as website and application accessibility, music library, cost, Ad experience, etc.

How to access Wynk Music?

You can access Wynk Music via its web portal and via its Android or iOS application. It does not have an app for Windows platform. In my opinion, Bharti Airtel should not have ignored the Windows smartphone users. Anyway, if you just want to stream music, then Wynk music website is more than enough. Also, you do not have to sign in to play any music.

If at all you want to create your playlist or favourite list of songs then you have to sign up. The only way to sign up for Wynk Music is via mobile number and OTP. The site is mobile responsive and will be more than sufficient if you prefer to use your smartphone browser to stream music.

As if now, Airtel users can stream HD music and download unlimited songs without paying a dime until April 10, 2018. Others can only listen to free music with radio quality, i.e. 128 kbps or less.

Website and mobile application experience

Wynk Music came last in the party of similar music services and thus has best features from all. Its site layout is gorgeous and has all possible option which may catch your eyes for sure. There is search option on the top bar which allows you to search music based on name, album, movie and artist. As scroll down, you will see options like latest English (this is based on your language selection), Wynk Top 100, Recap 2017, Radio Stations, Top Playlists, Top Albums, #VIRAL, Popular Artists, Top Charts, Moods, Classics, etc.

On the right-hand side of the website, you will find songs list, which you play with a tap. The moment you play any music, a music player appears at the rightmost bottom. Although, you only get the basic options in this player such as play/pause, next and backward. You cannot download music on its website.

Its application has pretty much same kind of layout as its mobile website. However, the Wynk Music app has optimised for the best smartphone experience. Its app has a feature-rich music player and also has an option to download music for offline listening. Overall, I will rate 8/10 for its user interface.

Ad experience

Wynk Music does show Ads on its website as well as on its application. You will see Ad tiles placed in between music playlists and tiles. Also, advertisements will play before and after some of the songs. I found it little too much as it spoils my overall listening experience.

However, if you for its paid plan, which is minimum Rs. 120 for 30 days, then there will be no Ads. Also paid plan will ensure HD music streaming and unlimited tracks downloads. I will rate here 7/10.

Music library and collection of songs

Wynk Music has over 2.8 million songs in 8 different languages which include both English and Hindi tracks. Other languages are Indian regional languages such as Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Bengali and Kannada. For sure, it falls sort of its competitors such as Saavn and Gaana as they have a bigger music collection.

But still, I was impressed of its collection of tracks in English which has songs from popular artists such as Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, KYGO, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Drake, Eminem, The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, David Guetta, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Pitbull, Charlie Puth and many others.

And when it comes to Hindi, you won’t be disappointed either as it has songs from artists such as Arijit Singh, A R Rahman, Badshah, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi, Benny Dayal, KK, Armaan Malik, etc.

If you are coming here for no specific choice and ready to delve into some cool music, then Wynk has unique curated playlists. Some of my favourites are Unplugged Jukebox, Remixtape, Artists in Spotlight, Romance Raagas, 90s Swagger, Band Baaja Hits, Grammy Nominees 2018, Feel The Chill, Feel Good Weekends, Raod Trip Weekends, etc. Choices are many, and I am sure you will find more than you could wish for. I will rate here 8/10.

Quality of music

Quality of music varies with free and paid subscription. If you are a free user, then you would get to stream at 128 kbps or even lower bit rate tracks. The moment you opt for paid plans, you can stream and download songs up to 320 kbps bit rate.

Although, you can opt to download music in four different quality as HD 320 kbps, High 128 kbps, Medium 64 kbps and Low 32 kbps.

I am not sure why somebody would download music below 128 kbps which is in itself radio quality. Anyways, I will rate here 7/10.

Inbuilt music player

Wynk Music has an inbuilt music player. It has all the necessary options such as play/pause, next, backward, shuffle and loop. Apart from this, you can add songs in queue, download songs and add songs to your playlists. It does have an option where you can play your smartphone local stored songs. It does not have lyrics feature which is on some of the popular music services such as Apple music and Gaana. I will rate here 7.5/10.
